Week 41: Rollerblading and Prank at Venice Beach
"There's nothing funnier than a giant, grown man rollerblading." - Chris Pratt
What did I do:
I spend a good amount of time at the beach, either going for a stroll, doing a walking meditation or training on the Santa Monica stairs. This week, I decided to see what all the hype is and gave rollerblading a chance.
Who was with me:
If you've been watching the web series and following my blog, you know my daredevil friend Mariola. She picked up rollerblading a year ago and now is a superstar. Thankfully, she also has tons of patience to teach me!
What did I learn:
To rollerblade you have to forget how you actually walk. It's not walking, its gliding. I'd recommend for any newbies to rent or bring knee pads and wrist guards, made a huge difference the one time I fell.
Know that you will be sore the next day regardless if you fall or not, my legs were cramped for a few days. Aside from actual rollerblading, Mariola and I got caught up in a YouTube hidden camera joke by prankster and comedian Mega McQueen. Ironically, I had just released on episode about pranking for week 40 and Mega McQueen broke the golden rule, if you get called out on pranking you have to come clean. I may have manifested that!
Would I do it again:
Based on the amount of rollerblading I did, I would definitely want to give it another shot. I didn't get very far! In the future, I anticipate I'll be more relaxed, actually enjoy the experience a bit and glide.
