Week 17: Celebrating Friendship, Art and Food! A Night with Art Unified
"Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light. " - Helen Keller
What did I do:
I have been extremely fortunate, throughout my life, to cultivate amazing friendships as a child, in my youth and now well into my thirties. Surprisingly, my friends have stuck by my side regardless of the many terrible pranks I pulled at their expense.
Over the last few months I have deepened my friendship with a handful of talented, beautiful young women who all happen to also be 35. Well, with the exception of 1, she's now 36. This week's adventure is all about celebrating friendship and thriving together. And what better way to do so than at an Art Unified (http://www.artunified.com/) event in Los Angeles.
Who was with me:
The women who joined me are all exceptional in their own way.
Kate - SVP at Basis Research. She is a kick ass market research goddess, jet sets around the world and a fantastic chef.
Ellie - My friend of over 20 years and fellow co-creator of the 20/20 Meditate for Peace movement. Oh and, let me not fail to mention, she is an award-winning Writer, Film and Television Producer, and Podcast Host. Check out Embold Media.
Mariola - My newest friend by ways of NYC. This year she was promoted to Director of Design at Hook Studios, grew her team from 3 to 15 and is the boss lady.
Maryam: My most glamorous friend. Fashion blogger, influencer and founder of Glam & Posh. She influences over 100,000 followers and intends to grow that to a 1,000,000 by close of 2018.
What did I learn:
The night of the event I learned it was the 1 year anniversary of Mariola moving from NYC to LA which gave us just one more thing to celebrate. I also learned all about the Art Unified group which represents dozens of LA and London's most exciting and innovative artists. With a gallery space in Venice, Art Unified hosts Live Art Supper Club throughout the year. Guests indulge in a 5 course meal paired with cocktails and wine while enjoying the live gallery.
Lastly, I confirmed that I really like the dog breed Alaskan Klee Kai. The founder of Art Unified happened to have one and we totally bonded.
Would I do this again:
Absolutely, LA is an amazing town full of dreamers, creatives and go-getters. This dinner was a great representation of the talent embedded throughout the city. I loved the welcoming and inviting energy of the Live Art Supper Club. The host did a superb job of creating an ambience that allows guests to hang out with their friends while engaging and getting to know new people. The girls and I sat on the roof and before the first course was even served, we were chatting up the group of guys at our cafeteria style table.
