Week 33: LA's Hottest Trend, Goat Yoga!
"No kidding, man’s new best friend is a goat." - Gavin Haynes
What did I do:
LA and other big cities around the country are bringing goats to yoga classes and on hikes. Research has shown time and time again that spending time with animals has a positive impact on our mental and emotional states. For years, animal-assisted therapy (a.k.a. pet therapy) has been used in hospitals. So it comes as no surprise that goats have entered the health and fitness world.
This week my friends and I gave goat yoga a try at Laughing Frog Yoga.
Who was with me:
I was joined by two new girl friends who were looking for an adventure, Gina and Adrieanne. Oh, and can't forget Billy, Rosco and Floyd, my new goat buddies.
What did I learn:
If you are looking to get a really great work out during a yoga class, goat yoga is not for you. But, if you want to let loose, belly laugh and play with cute animals for an hour, then goat yoga is just what you need. These little guys are hilarious. Watching them interact with each other and us humans was a treat. They don't have a care in the world and do as they please.
Oh, and although we were in an indoor studio, these goats decided to go potty when nature called. Sometimes on the wood floor, on a yoga mat, or on a human! Thankfully, their poop is just recycled hay and very easy to clean up.
Would I do this again:
Goat yoga is definitely a novelty, something you want to try at least once. What I'd like to try next is yoga with puppies! I did want to take Billy home with me though, Bahmaste!
