Week 29: Sunday Funday Full Fast Day

What did I do:

Periodic and intermittent fasting has tons of benefits from balancing your hormones to slowing down the aging process. You can read all about it here: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/10-health-benefits-of-intermittent-fasting. Since June I've been fasting a full 24 hours (with the exception of water and non-caloric drinks) once a week. One immediate benefit that I have seen are in my daily meditations. The days I fast, I go much deeper, much faster. 

Recently, I was advised to increase my fasting dosage to 2 full days a week. It's been quite a challenge, mostly because of the impact to my social life. It's bleeding into my weekends, like his past Sunday when I attended a friend's birthday party at Liaison followed by a night of salsa dancing at Stevens Steakhouse.

Who was with me:

It was a really fun afternoon. I was with a large group of friends for the birthday celebrations at Liaison. Then a smaller group of us continued the party by dancing the night away at the salsa club. 

What did I learn: 

Stepping into the brunch party, my immediate autopilot reaction was to order a tequila based drink at the bar. hahah. Of course, I didn't but I was surprised by how conditioned I was to do so. Not to worry, while my friends drank champage, I brought an alternative. I took shots of Doterra Peppermint Oil to wake me up! Give it a try.

People assume that when you fast you have zero energy. I hope this week's adventure shows you a different perspective. Watch as I maintain my fast while having tons of energy and fun with my friends. Full disclaimer, I did crash on the car ride home!

Would I do this again:

I fast all the time now, so I think it is a given that I'll be put in a similar situation to fast and go out for the night. You have to dig deep in that well of discipline to say no to the drinks and yummy french fries. But given all the benefits of intermittent fasting, it's totally worth it.
